Website Evaluation

Today on class we had to review a blog post of our choice, mine was on "Famous Trials"
I found this site VERY easy to use and very educational. I found myself spending more time looking over the different trials as I was looking for information. It has trials from the BC ear to the current 911 Trials of the people who flew into the twin towers.
From an educational side, this site would be a huge help to students doing research on trials, famous or not, throughout history. There is more information than just what happened in the trial, there is history on the person on trial and what could have made them do something bad.
In teaching this would be an EXCELLENT site to help in History and English to give students more information on a subject they could be studying.
We had to make sure that the information on the site was credible, which I thought was a good teaching tool. If we are going to allow students to use web sites we recommend we need to make sure they are factual. I liked the process we did this by looking at this site from every possible way: who the author was. Where is is from. What his credentials are.....etc. I like how this exercise made me think and not take everything at face value, but explore and find out if things are what they seem.

This has been a good weekend. Had a band concert at Harriman High School, with the Babahatchie Band. I think this was our best concert yet, and NO I'm not one of those directors that say that after ever concert. Our last concert was not good at all, but what can you do it's a community band. I think/hope the audience really liked the music I chose; it was a selection between contemporary bandl literature and movie music. I liked it..LOL.
Saturday we had a home game (basketball) between UConn. We met at 3pm for the game at 4. I couldn't get over the huge turn out for the game. I don't really know sports, I know shocking since I'm in the Pride and work with area marching bands....I watch the bands, the REAL reason for Football games
I had worked the night before, Friday, and was worn out for the whole game; I actually went to bed at 8pm and slept all night..LOL I was tired!!

DAY ONE

Hello world this is my first blog and first time talking about me. I find this very strange putting my personal out on the Internet for the entire world to see, but I'm no one famous ...so who would really care to read about a poor person in Knoxville, TN. :) I am taking a computer tech class that I hope will help me overcome my fear of computers and will get me into the 21st century. I am studying to be a band director, hopefully high school, and I know this information will REALLY help me when teaching. I have never had luck when it comes to anything electronic. A friend tells me I have something in my body that shorts out devices. I have gone through more cell phones than anyone I know. My car stereo decides what things I need to hear or not. (The volume seems to get louder or softer on its own.)
I have been conductor of the Babahatchie Community Band  in Harriman, TN for the past 10 years. We do 8 concerts a year, 4 in the winter and 4 in the summer. It has been real challenge for me; working, going to school full time, and conducting the band, but for the most part it has been VERY rewarding. I live alone, except for my three cats....which you could call my three spoiled children. They say it's not the pets fault they are spoiled, but the owners.I beg to differ!!! LOL  You have NEVER meet my cats... Their names are Bobby, Emily and Momma, and they all know their names. I can be in another room from all three of them and yell for a certain one. and then I here..thud...thud...thud..thud.....(my cats like...no ...LOVE  food) and here comes the one I was looking for.
I feel really blessed for everything I have and for the healy and energy to keep going and going, doing the things I love.
